Biography of Mr CEO :



Zetche was born on May 5, 1953 in Turkey. His father was a civil engineer who was in Turkey that year for a dam construction project. The Zetche family returned to Germany in 1956. Dieter Zetche went to school in the town of Oberversel near Frankfurt. He entered the University of Karlsruhe in 1971 and graduated in 1976 with a degree in electrical engineering. Zetche continued his education and graduated in 1982 with a doctorate from Paderborn University.


Zetche was hired by Daimler-Benz in 1976 . She joined the development department in 1981 and married Gisele Zetche in 1982 and is still living with her


His next assignment was in 1986, with Dieter serving as head of international development for Daimler-Benz. He moved to Brazil in 1987 and became the director of the Mercedes-Benz Development Department in that country. His other responsibility in this new company was senior engineer. Zetche became a member of the board of directors of the Mercedes-Benz branch in Brazil in 1988, and a year later became the director of the company's Argentine division.


He rose through the ranks, becoming a member of the board of Daimler-Chrysler in 1998, and served as CEO of the Chrysler Group from mid-2000 to December 31, 2005.
From the beginning of 2006, Zetche replaced Jürgen Schramp as director of the Daimler-Chrysler group (now known as Daimler EG). He was replaced by Thomas W. Lasorda as CEO of Chrysler Group.
